What is the cry about?

The Cry is a brilliant, gobsmacking drama, empowering the audience by taking away the liberation of perspective, balancing our natural response to emotionally feel the tragedy by forcing us to rationalise it. This extraordinary, moving production is sure to be one of television events of the year.

Where is the cry filmed?

Production. The Cry is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Helen FitzGerald. The series is produced by Synchronicity Films, directed by Glendyn Ivin and written for television by Jacquelin Perske. Filming for the series commenced in February 2018, initially taking place in Australia. Filming later moved to Scotland in April 2018.

Is the cry worth watching?

The Cry wasn't given a huge deal of publicity, it kind of got lost amongst snappier dramas, such as Bodyguard, and Killing Eve. It deals with a pretty sad story, it's gritty, intriguing, moving, and does a great job making you feel things. As you watch you feel pity, hatred and justice, it's cleverly played out.

How many episodes are in the cry?

Release. The Cry comprises four episodes and premiered in the UK on BBC One on 30 September 2018. The series premiered in Australia on ABC on 3 February 2019. North American release occurred in the fall of 2018 initially on the Sundance Now streaming service, followed by standard broadcast on SundanceTV beginning in October 2019.
